Love Never Felt So Good: cooler Seventies Disco-Sound mit dem Ohrwurm-Refrain “Baby, love never felt so fine. And I’d die if it never mine. Not like you hold me, hold me. Baby, love never felt so good” und fast schon Klassik-inspirierten Instrumental-Mittelteil. Die erste Single. Gibt’s auch in der Duett-Version mit Justin Timberlake.
Chicago: “She tried to live a double life. Loving me while she was still your wife
She thought that loving me was cool. With you at work and the kids at school” singt Jacko im etwas dissonanten, von vielen Vocal-Überlappungen geprägten Nahzu-Accapella-Song. Hit-Faktor Null.
Loving You: Piano-Intro und der typische jackson Falsetto-Gesang. Der verhalten gesungene Refrain “But I’ll be loving you, that’s what I want to do. I’ll be loving you, that’s what I want to do” geht dabei im eigenartigen Soundmix relativ unter.
A Place With No Name: schräg-cooler Rhythmus, viel Geklatsche und die Zeilen “A scene of beautiful city appear. Of where kids are playing and people are laughing and smiling and nothing to fear”. Erinnert an die Jackson Klassiker 90er Jahre.
Slave To the Rhythm: Der Cineastische Bombast-Intro-Sound samt Ketten-Geräuschen geht in schräge Loops über. Dazu rappt Jacko Zeilen wie “She dances ’til he feels just right” oder “She can’t be late”. Für einen Mega-Hit etwas zu belanglos.
Do You Know Where Your Children Are:Der Album-Aufreger! Zu Jacko-typischen “HiHiHi”-Gekreische und Hardrock-Gitarrem-Soli singt er von Kindesmisshandlung (“She wrote that she is tired of stepdaddy using her. Saying that he’ll buy her things, while sexually abusing he”) und daraus resultierender Prostitution (She’s selling her body hard, girl that will take you far. The police come ’round the corner, somebody there they told. He’s arresting this little girl, that’s only twelve years old!”)
Blue Gangsta: “No where to run no where to hide. All the things you’ve said and the things you’ve done to me” haucht Jackson mit hörbarer Anstrengung in bestenfalls Demo-Qualität.
Xscape: “Xscape, got to get away from a system lose in the world today
Xscape, the pressure that I face from relationships that’s gone away” Dazu ertönt Trompeten-Sound, einfache Hooks und auch hier wieder viel Text zu relativ wenig Musik.
